Preserving a legacy : An intel drone + A.I. Expedition

As part of our “Tech for Good” series, we wanted to find a way to use modern technology to preserve ancient history for future generations. We immediately thought of the Great Wall. Although it is a world wonder, one third of the wall is crumbling. To add to the complications of restoration work, we found out there are incredibly steep sections that are almost impossible to repair using traditional methods.

To solve this problem we teamed up Intel Engineers with preservation experts from the Great Wall Heritage Foundation. The solution: Use a combination of Drones and Artificial Intelligence in the field, to analyze and restore the wall quicker, easier, and much more efficiently. The documentary films and social media campaign follow the story of the expedition. Each episode rolled out across social media channels sequentially, with supporting social assets.
